Design Resources : Vintage images and postcards
I found this site over the weekend - http://www.art-e-zine.co.uk/vintageresources.html - and it has some wonderful old photographs and postcards. I just love vintage stuff like this and the images are all free to use for personal work - great for collages.
I made the illustration below by creating a couple of brushes using the geishas girl postcards on the site, combined with a few modern brushes and a hefty dose of scanned stains.

Anyone else have some vintage image resources you’d like to share?

That’s an excellent resource - and a great demo piece too!
Hi Jo. Yeah, I really like the textures too. Like yourself, though, I definitely go for a modern clean look with my web design work, although I’ve seen some lovely retro textured websites knocking around and might go down that route if I find a willing client!
Don’t forget to put a printing press on your Christmas wish list this year!
Hi Jenny,
I may just have a chance (if I can persuade my client that is!)
I’ve just got a new job to design a site for reiki healing and shamanic drumming. I’m thinking textures and a bit of grunge. We shall see! Do you have any examples of retro sites that you’ve seen?
No problem. Good luck with the new design.
