Photoshop Wishlist
Scott Kelby has a blog post today with a nice idea about how people power could shape the features in the next version of Photoshop. The main gist would be that Adobe would ask it’s users what changes or new features would they like in the next version and the top 10 most requested features would appear WITHOUT FAIL. Scott lists 10 of his own ideas and there are tons of comments with great suggestions for improvements - lots of stuff I wouldn’t have thought of myself, but ideas that make you think, oh yeah, essential.
One thing that I would love to change in Photoshop is the number of Undos that you can make with the Ctrl + Z keywords. In Illustrator you can undo LOADS of times but in Photoshop you have to go into the History palette to go back more than one command.
What would you add to your wishlist?

I'd love to hear your comments and I follow:

Hi Jennifer,
Regarding numbers of Undos - you might want to change the Shortcuts from Undo/Redo to “Step Backward” and “Step Forward” to ctrl+z and ctrl+shift+z (or ctrl+y) respectively. Simple
As per requested features - dream on. Dev builds are already feature complete and getting bugfixed for October release and some of the apps from CS4 suite are already available for testing on “labs” website while others are circulating on some shady sites.
I do hate adobe for hardly listening to users like me and for policy of considering small bugs not vital to fix until next major release, but on the other hand - they do not fail to deliver an application that works fine and earns for my living, as well as throw some candy on the web dev part (Flash Player 10 and Dreamweaver CS4 are nice).
BTW What I was able to find so far is that the most important changes are hardware related improvements, mainly native 64bit support and GPU acceleration handling. Kinda sweet, tho not really a big selling points for me.
You can use ctrl+alt z to go back further than one step, actually.
Do you know that you can Ctrl + Alt + Z in Photoshop to do undo loads of times too?
Jarek, Nikki and Jeremiah thank you so much.
I hang my head in absolute shame - I’ve been teaching Photoshop for 5 years and I didn’t know that. Big red face!!
One thing about the History panel is that you can see all your steps in a succinct list and can go back and forth if needed. The Control+Z is great, but doesn’t provide you with that nice visual list. And we’re visual people, right?
Hi Ginny
Yep, I agree with you - it’s nice to run up and down the history list and see the changes.
