Don't assume you are dealing with an irresponsible owner. Good Samaritans who have never lost a cherished companion animal may conclude that the owner of the found dog or cat callously abandoned him or, at the very least, neglected to keep him safely confined at home. But accidents can happen to anyone. The frantic owner may be looking everywhere for their beloved pet.

"It's going to cost a minimum of $7500 per month to keep this going," said Judi Glidewell-Matthews, President of Critter Haven Rescue. Executive Director Andrea Soliz said adopted kittens or puppies can be taken home immediately. Texas law requires sterilization for those animals.Rescue organizations, shelters and businesses in Amarillo have banded together to save the lives of innocent animals all while educating the community on the importance of spaying / neutering and the responsibilities of pet ownership.
