“Our goal is to match families with their new BFF (Best Furry Friend),” said Alex Munoz, Director of Miami-Dade Animal Services. “With hundreds of loving pets for adoption, everyone should find the perfect dog or cat, or both.”
In 2015, the Miami County Animal Shelter’s overall adoption rate was 94 percent.

The Humane Society of Greater Miami has been helping homeless animals in Miami-Dade County since 1936. Nearly 200 homeless dogs, cats, puppies and kittens are cared for at our adoption center every day. We are able to give these animals a second chance by providing tender loving care for as long as it takes to find them homes with kind, responsible and committed caregivers.(MIAMI, September 2, 2014) – September is the perfect time to spread the love and adopt a new furry best friend. And to make it easier than ever, Miami-Dade County Animal Services (Animal Services) is teaming up with Animal Planet in collaboration with the ASPCA® (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals®) to waive adoption fees for dogs and cats starting Tuesday, September 2.Ready to adopt a pet? Miami-Dade County Animal Services is teaming up with Animal Planet and the ASPCA to waive adoption fees beginning September 2, 2014''We are thrilled to work with Animal Planet to support Miami-Dade County Animal Services efforts to find more animals homes and save more lives by subsidizing pet adoption fees,'' said Michael Barrett, Vice President of Grants Management for the ASPCA. ''We hope that this program will inspire the public to consider visiting their local shelter and to find their perfect match.''''Animal Planet could not be prouder to collaborate with the ASPCA and Miami-Dade County Animal Services on the 'R.O.A.R. To Their Rescue' campaign,'' said Rick Holzman, General Manager and Executive Vice President of Animal Planet. ''This program will ensure that thousands of adoptable dogs and cats are welcomed into forever homes, while also promoting national animal adoption awareness.''

Miami-Dade County Animal Service will waive adoption fees for cats and dogs of all ages both at the shelter location 7401 NW 74 Street and all off-site pet adoption events until the ''R.O.A.R. To Their Rescue'' grant runs out. All other criteria for adoption will remain the same.Miami-Dade Animal Services (Animal Services) will host the 2016 Mega Match-a-thon event, with the participation of the Humane Society of Greater Miami (HSGM) and The Cat Network, Inc. (Cat Network). The large-scale non-stop adoption event is one of many held nationwide, in October in collaboration with the ASPCA® to “Mega-Size” the effort to save the lives of shelter animals.
