In 2012, PetSmart teamed up with Phoenix Children's Hospital to sponsor their animal-assisted therapy program, PetSmart Paws Can Heal. The initial launch was such a success that we expanded the program to hospitals throughout North America with our PetSmart Paws for Hope program.
Federal inspectors discovered a gruesome scene at a Pennsylvania small-animal dealer that supplied animals to both Petco and PetSmart.

Please, pledge not to buy pet supplies from retailers that sell any animals. Let PetSmart officials know that you’ll instead buy supplies from businesses that don’t sell animals, such as Target, Walgreens, or the other online retailers listed above. We’ve seen it time and time again at dealers that sell animals to pet stores, and now we’ve seen it again at Reptiles by Mack, a reptile mill in Xenia, Ohio, that breeds and sells frogs, lizards, turtles, and other animals to pet stores across the country, such as PetSmart.PetSmart is well aware that investigation after investigation into its animal suppliers has found factory-farm conditions, filth, crowding, deprivation, neglect, cruelty, and prolonged, painful death. Yet it continues to sell animals and do business with these mills.ou know those plastic tubs that people use to store holiday decorations, old blankets, and clothes in the attic? Well, an animal dealer that supplies small animals to PetSmart, Petco, Pet Supplies Plus, and many other stores uses even smaller containers to house live animals.PetSmart eventually stopped buying animals from Holmes Farm—but only after failing to act for months, even when federal officials’ findings were publicized. Petco initially claimed in January 2016 that it had severed ties with Holmes Farm, before it was notified of PETA’s findings by the Associated Press. But for more than a month after Petco’s December 2015 visit to Holmes Farm—during which its representatives were never seen looking at the freezer or the filthy cooler in which hundreds of animals were crudely killed—its stores continued to order and receive animals by the hundreds from Holmes Farm, even as the USDA began its inspection.Please, pledge never to buy pet supplies from retailers that sell any animals.
