The Madison ARK is a compassionate no-kill rescue and registered 501c-3 in the state of Mississippi. Before intake, we visit with each potential animal to assess temperament and adoptability. Once the animals are assessed, we reach out to the community for assistance and once a foster home is found and donations are raised, we with our foster families, local veterinarians, and trainers to provide our community with well balanced, healthy dogs and cats. Because of our focus on animals in danger of losing their lives due to abuse or euthanasia in kill shelters, we do not accept owner surrenders. We view pets as a lifetime commitment and honor our policy in all aspects of our organization! The Ark - Pet Rescue and Adoption

ARK is a non-profit animal welfare organization begun by Marie Hunt in 1999. The organization is active in the Lakefield, Peterborough, Whitby and Toronto areas. The goal of ARK is to place cats and kittens in permanent homes, and to aid stray and abandoned cats. ARK also works with several municipal shelters to increase exposure and find homes for these rescue cats. The A.R.K. (Animal Recycling Kennel) is a non-profit group of caring individuals who help rescue homeless animals in the Marshall County and surrounding areas. The A.R.K. is made up entirely of volunteers. All donations received are used to care for these animals. They are waiting for someone to come along and adopt them to care and love them the rest of their lives. We are currently working to complete construction on our shelter. A.R.K. is also trying to educate people on the importance of having their pets spayed and neutered. Here at the A.R.K. we find good loving indoor homes for these homeless animals. Our adoption fee for puppies/dogs is 200.00 - 275.00. Most mixed breed dogs/puppies range from 200.00- 225.00, purebred dogs from 250.00-275.00, which includes altering, parvo distemper and bordatella vaccinations, worming, a chip and a rabies shot and heartworm test for dogs of sufficient age. Our adoption fee for cats is 100.00 /$125 for purebreds which includes altering, FIP/FIV testing, a chip and relevant shots.ARK is not a shelter. All cats and kittens are placed in volunteer foster homes until they are ready for adoption. During this time, animals are socialized, vaccinated, and spayed or neutered. Adoptions are done locally through word of mouth and additionally by participating in the Petsmart "Luv a Pet" Adoption Centres at the Whiby stores, as well as several Pet Valu, Paulmacs Pets and Global Pet Foods stores. Each year ARK finds homes for over 1,000 cats and kittens. All those who are interested in bringing a pet into their homes should consider adoption. The ARK's adoption goals are to provide loving, lifelong homes for its pets. Possible adopters must fill out an application, and pay an adoption fee which includes vaccinations, heartworm test and spay/neuter for all. Applications are approved based on information submitted by the applicants regarding past and present pets, vet records, and pet and family living arrangements. The applications are processed by an adoption committee that looks at the individual needs of each foster. The ARK does consider out of state adoptions. Requirements are a completed application, with pictures of home (inside and outside), a vet reference and a letter stating why you want this pet. Out of state adopters that are approved must provide appropriate traveling arrangements.
