BANDERA — Capping years of debate about replacing Bandera County's outdated animal shelter, county commissioners on Thursday authorized starting site work for a new facility behind the justice center on Texas 173 north of town.

Animal Welfare Society of Bandera County (AWSBC) rescues animals from numerous animal control agencies as well as from the public.
