Five Vector-Style Photoshop Brushes
Posted by Jennifer Farley | November 12, 2007
I’ve been doing a bit of a spring-clean/cull of files on my computer and I’m trying to organise my photoshop brushes into separate categories. Here’s five sets of brushes that I like that fit into the Vector-style category. They are a mixture of high res and lower resolution but I found that I have used these quite a bit in the past and that you might be interested in them too - there is a link to each creator’s site below. In no particular order;

Photoshop Brushes : Runes

Here’s another set of beautiful brushes from one of my favourite Photoshop brush designers, Obsidian Dawn. These are Runes and Arcane Circles - high quality, close to 1000 pixels wide. They’re perfect for adding some other worldly effects.

And also suitable for branding people as witches, heretics and madmen…

Free Photoshop Brushes : Borders

Here’s three free Photoshop brushes that I made a while ago to help speed up the process of framing and masking images. They are high res and about 2500 pixels high each so you can use them on BIG pictures.
Here’s a preview of the brushes:

And here’s an image (oh, look it’s Brad!) that I masked and applied one of the brushes to.

You can download the photoshop brush set here. Let me know if you find them useful.
Cool Photoshop Brush of the Week

This is a great set of Photoshop brushes created from ads in a 1940s edition of Cosmopolitan. The ads from this era are so full of character and there are 48 brushes in the set. The brushes were made by Moolis and you can see lots of his other good stuff over on his deviant art site.
Below you can see a sample brush with a little bit of “colouring in” by me.

Photoshop Brushes : Eyelashes

This is a great new set of Photoshop brushes from Obsidian Dawn. This set has several high resolution brushes of upper and lower lashes. They also include a left and right eye so you don’t have to fiddle around with brush direction to make a pair. Most of the lashes are about 900 pixels in width. Great stuff.
Here’s an image I made earlier with a set of fancy Priscilla style lashes for the U.S. Pres and a border made of simple lashes.

I found this Photoshop brush set from Invisible Snow and I think it contains some very cute, yet very cool artwork.
Here’s one I made earlier using a couple of the brushes …
