Free Photoshop Brushes from Magurno
Posted by Jennifer | June 21, 2007 | 15 Comments
If you haven’t come across Gabriele Magurno’s brushes before now, you should check them out. They are abolutely superb and a bit different from many of the brushes you see. There are five free sets of brushes and also some vector images that are free to take away.
The illustration below is one I made in Photoshop using a few of Magurno’s brushes. The guy in the picture is our Taoiseach (Ireland’s Prime Minister), Bertie Ahern who has just been re-elected for the third time. Apparently he spends over €20,000 on makeup services every year! I’ll just state now for the record that I am willing to be his official photoshopper for half that.

To end the week, here’s a set of 8 “distressed” hazard signs. The signs include warnings of acid, poison, electrocution, explosions, lasers and more. I’ve roughed them up a bit too so that they look used. Let me know if you find them useful.

Free Photoshop Brushes : Book of Kells
Posted by Jennifer | March 16, 2007 | Leave A Comment
The set of free photoshop brushes that I’m offering you today are based on the Book of Kells. The Book of Kells is an ornately illustrated manuscript of the gospels created by monks in about 800 AD. The books were found in a town called Kells here in Ireland and I live about 7 miles from there. The manuscripts are now held in Trinity College in Dublin and you can go and see them in the wonderful library there.
You can find out more about the book of Kells here.
The photoshop brushes consist of some of the images found in the book and some of the ornately decorated letters. I hope you like them.

You can download a zip of the brushes here.
