PSCS3 iconIf you’re the proud owner of a copy of Photoshop CS3, don’t forget to download a newly available update. The update deals with a few issues that were discovered after PS CS3 was realeased. You will probably have gotten a message automatically about this from the Adobe Updater but the patcher/updater is available for download from Adobe.com now.

The update brings the program to version 10.01 and improvements include;
increased speed of moving objects inside multiple layer sets;
converting images to CMYK using certain profiles no longer results in black files;
the Save for Web feature now includes an option to “Include XMP” (metadata) in the settings menu within the main Save for Web interface.

The update for Windows Photoshop CS3 can be found here.

The update for Macintosh Photoshop CS3 is here.

Free Chapter from Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a Book

Posted by Jennifer Farley | November 7, 2007 | 1 Comment

You can download a free chapter about Typography in Photoshop from the Adobe Design Centre website.

The chapter is taken from the excellent series of books by Adobe press. I use these books in my own classroom and they provide excellent step by step instructions on using most of the Adobe products. What I really like about them is that they dig a little deeper than some of the other instuction books, they provide exercise files and they are also very practical.

Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a BookIf you like the chapter, you can get the full Photoshop CS3 Classroom in a book from Amazon.

Monday Morning Photoshoppery

Posted by Jennifer Farley | September 3, 2007 | 1 Comment

I saw this on Freaking News, this morning and found myself saying, “Wow”, “Hmmmmmm” and “Oh Dear God, what is that thing?”

It’s a great collection of images constructed using two different faces. I was reading a book recently about couples, and apparently a lot of couples have similar facial features that aren’t always obvious until you see there faces stitched together - something like the images on this post.

ABR Brush Viewer

For anyone who loves Photoshop brushes (and don’t we all?), here’s a free brush viewer that’s been around for a while and makes life a little bit easier. It allows you to view any brushes on your system without having to load them up. You can export brushes as a png file and you can easily print a brush reference sheet.

It’s Open Source and can be downloaded from the ABRViewer website.

Photoshop in the News

Posted by Jennifer Farley | August 17, 2007 | 10 Comments

I saw an article in the Guardian today about how there have been a lot of difficulties installing Adobe CS3.

I’m due to start teaching a new course in September covering Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver and Flash and we’re moving to CS3, so I’m hoping there won’t be major problems. I’ll be installing the new software on 21 pcs so fingers crossed there won’t be the need to go through several reinstalls as described in the newspaper article.

Have many of you moved to CS3 and did you have any difficulties getting it going?
