I adopted a Beagle about 10 months old. I live in a rural area. Twice he got away and was gone for 16 hours. Worry and concern abounded until he returned, tired, traumatized and scratched up. His instinct to hunt is something I hope to control by using the collar for training.
The collar is well made in my opinion and the customer service is good. They also have videos to watch. The collar material is plastic but I only wanted that to hold on the unit that goes against his neck. I have used the unit a few times and left it on (not on my pet) over the weekend and it worked fine on Monday. So the charge of the batteries seems to be fine. The mechanism that goes against the neck is made of a hard plastic and seems more that adequate to me.
I tried it on a two acre cleared area and it worked just as described. I set the shock on 5 and tried it on my arm. It was not painful but got my attention. The tone and vibrate mode gets his attention and if we continue to work with him he should learn to obey.
I did read in a review that the part that goes on the pets neck rattles. Yes, it has a mechanism in it to detect when the pet moves and automatically turns the thing on. This conserves battery when the pet is not active. This is a great feature!
I am happy and will report more after I have used it for a few weeks.

I just received the PetTech remote controlled training collar. It appears to function as promised! It fits my 7 mo 15lb JRT well with still 3 holes remaining in the collar! Only thing I notice is the electronic piece on the collar has a rattle in it! Hope its not a pc loose in there! I’ll let you know how it goes with traing her to STOP chasing my bantams!! Lol Pet Tech dog training collar works great and my dogs training has begun and he has already made huge change and training is going very well!

STAR Training uses the Pavlovian principle of associating an audible tone with a memory of a positive feeling. In the STAR process, you first speak a command while selecting a unique tone from your training device. All our electronic training devices give you multiple tones, each to be associated with a command of your choosing such as, "Sit", "Stay" and "Down". You then demonstrate the behavior. For example, to teach your dot to come, you play the selected tone, say, "Come," and tough on your dog's leash, pulling him toward you. The final step is to play the same tone again while giving your dog a treat and affection.
