Being a South Austin Veterinary Clinic since 1974 has allowed us to develop strong, lasting relationships with our animal patients, our human clients, and also our staff. This year Manchaca Road Animal Hospital celebrates 40 years of practice in South Austin. In addition, 4 of our staff members have now been with us for over 30 years. It's why we take being a South Austin, Manchaca Road pet clinic seriously. We are not your average South Austin veterinarian.Dr. Johnson received his DVM from Texas A&M University in College Station in 1986. He was hired by the Emergency Animal Hospital of NW Austin (EAHNWA) in 1987 as an associate veterinarian and became the owner and Chief of Staff of the hospital in 1991. The south location of the Emergency Animal Hospital was opened by Dr. Johnson in 1997. In 1999, he became the co-founder and the president of the Texas Animal Blood Bank, a volunteer canine blood bank. Dr. Johnson was a member of the Open Heart Surgery Team at the Debake Institute of Comparative Cardiology and Cardiovascular Devices at Texas A&M Universtiy, responsible for anesthesia and critical care oversight. Dr. Johnson became a diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care in 2006, served on the board of directors, and is currently president. He is a member of AVMA, TVMA, VECCS, the Association of Veterinary Hematology and Transfusion Medicine, American Association of Blood Banks, and the Society of Critical Care Medicine. He enjoys mountain biking, scuba diving, and has a son and two granddaughters. Pets at the Johnson house include three dogs, Dylan, Olive and Midnight, and two cats, Bejou and Cowboy.Founded in 2006, Oliver Animal Hospital is a full-service veterinary hospital located in South Austin, whose mission is to provide the highest standard of care for your pets. In south Austin, after hours veterinarian services are available on nights (6pm to 7am), and we are open 24-hours on weekends and all holidays. No appointment necessary.
