Gunner disappeared in March 2014 while running on land owned by one of Vaughan's friends. Vaughan found Gunner the next day at a local animal shelter after he had been hit by a car.

Vaughan surrendered Cholula to the officer, and she was examined by a veterinarian, who noted that her body cavities were infested with maggots, as were wounds of unknown origin, the statement said. It was decided that the opportunity to treat the dog had passed, and she was euthanized at the shelter, according to the statement. Adopting a friend from Vaughan Animal Services begins with visiting the shelter to meet our many animal residents. We always have lots of cats available for adoption and many different breeds of dogs as well. Dog and cat licensing is only available for Vaughan residents at this time. Our adoption facility provides lost and found services to pet owners dedicated tohaving their animal(s) return home. Vaughan Animal Services provides animal control services to the City of Vaughan and the Township of King. We make every effort to reunite animals with their owners, but animals who are not claimed by their owners become available for adoption at our shelter. We strive to find homes for the cats and dogs we pick up as strays. Come by the shelter to see our adoption centers and maybe you'll meet your new best friend.

The City of Vaughan’s latest art exhibition, Petscapes: Tails of the Lost + Found, is a must-see for animal lovers. The series of photographic portraits depicts dogs and cats who found a safe haven at the Vaughan Animal Services shelter.The all-volunteer nonprofit FOLBA has been a partner with ACS since its foundation in 1990. Vaughan described the organization’s history with the shelter, including fund-raising for and purchase of supplies and medicine; that provides vouchers through ACS for low-cost altering of pets, and helping to facilitate adoption of so-called unadoptable animals.The event agenda included a meet-and-greet, a “report card” of ACS’s accomplishments, and a projection of what’s ahead for the shelter’s animals, followed by tours of the facilities conducted by and facilitated by staff members. Parks, Recreation and Marine director George Chapjian opened the event to a full house of attendees, followed by comments from Denise Jacksy, the senior operating manager of spcaLA, which shares the P.D.
